Why I am qualified to teach Model Design and Building |
When I was a young Cub Scout, the plastic model kit was very popular. Ships, Cars, Buildings, Planes, Monsters, I built all kinds of kits! Later arount the time I became a Boy Scout, a friend introducted me to HO scale train layouts and dioramas. We learned to scratch build with plaster, balsa and plastic sheet, as many of the things we wanted to have did not come in kits. This eventually led me to assemble, modify and paint, scale figures, model weapons and terrain for Ancients and Renissance wargaming. While in college for Engineering, I learned to read and create blueprints and isometric drawings of many different processes and buildings. All of those skills have helped me in a suprising way. As an Information Technology advisor, I often work with Contractors, Architects, and Engineers to design the IT infrastructure (electric, networking, plumbing, HVAC) for new and remodeling building projects for my company in the Dallas area. |
